Medicine

A US trained internist, I run a small clinic to provide basic health care in poor rural communities. We also work with other medical resources in the States and Honduras when available to facilitate and coordinate their help to this area. The clinic also assists in collection of medical statistics to aid program development.

Medical supplies are always needed. And some local staff is used to contact patients to return to the clinic for treatment of chronic medical needs like diabetes or high blood pressure. Patients pay for the medicine when they are able; if they cannot pay for it, it is given without cost. Donations of medicine, basic medical supplies, and funds help sustain this effort. Physician services available at the clinic are provided at no cost to either donors or patients.

The clinic has been in operation for several years. This continuing operation has been much more effective than many efforts that only operated for short periods of time before being abandoned.

Sometimes simple medical items like Tylenol, vitamins, and supplements are really very helpful. This shipment was donated by someone in the US.
